Job Description:
Our client is an established international company looking to recruit a Payment Processing Specialist to join their Payments team based in Malta. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in payment operations who is looking to develop their career within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring payment processing performance across multiple markets and payment providers, ensuring optimal clearing rates, identifying operational issues, and supporting the continuous improvement of payment processes. The role also acts as a key liaison between Payment Operations and internal stakeholders to ensure stable, efficient, and scalable payment processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor payment processing performance across assigned markets, new brands, and newly launched activities.
- Monitor technical failures and recurring processing errors.
- Track payment provider usage and adoption.
- Analyse clearing rates by country, brand, MID, payment provider, and payment flow.
- Escalate technical issues and coordinate with relevant teams until resolution.
- Provide payment processing support to internal teams.
- Monitor regulatory developments and identify opportunities to improve payment acceptance and clearing performance.
- Support the Operations team with merchant queries relating to payments and payouts, coordinating with third-party payment processors and banking partners.
- Assist the Back Office and Reconciliation teams with payment-related cases.
- Configure payment processing accounts and maintain operational readiness.
- Record and report cases involving compromised payment information.
- Liaise with payment service providers regarding operational matters.
- Support the implementation of new payment service providers, currencies, and payment features.
- Participate in payment page and CRM improvement initiatives.
- Research industry best practices and recommend operational improvements.
- Deliver internal training sessions and presentations where required.
- Participate in weekly operational meetings.
- Provide ad hoc support on payment operations, provider communication, account configuration, and new payment initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year's experience in a similar role, preferably within an online payments environment.
- Good understanding of payment gateways, PSPs, MIDs, acquiring, and payment processing flows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong command of English.
- Previous experience delivering presentations is considered an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with BI or reporting tools is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and detail-oriented.
- Candidates must already hold a valid permit to work in Malta.
