Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Field Service Technician to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and testing Point of Sale (POS) systems - both hardware and software - at client sites. You will ensure that all systems are operational, provide basic training to users, and support the technical team in post-installation troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and test POS hardware components (terminals, receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, payment terminals, etc.).
  • Install and configure POS software on client machines, ensuring all updates and settings are correctly applied.
  • Coordinate with clients for site readiness, access, and schedule installation windows.
  • Perform network setup for POS systems, including routers, switches, and basic cabling (if required).
  • Conduct functional testing and ensure proper operation of the installed system.
  • Provide end-user training on basic system usage and troubleshooting.
  • Document installation procedures, configurations, and client-specific settings.
  • Respond to and resolve any installation-related issues, escalating as needed.
  • Maintain and manage tools, devices, and installation kits.
  • Collaborate with support and project teams to ensure successful deployment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in hardware/software installation, preferably with POS systems.
  • Working knowledge of Windows OS and basic networking.
  • Familiarity with POS software such as [Insert relevant software, e.g., Square, Clover, NCR, Toast, etc.].
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and schematics.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills. (Speaking fluent Maltese is Preferred)
  • Ability to travel to client sites (valid driver's license required).
  • Physically able to lift equipment and perform installations (up to 50 lbs).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification (Preference to those who have certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar).
  • Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
  • Experience working in the retail, hospitality, or restaurant industries.
